Do you believe everything happens for a reason? I am Darion Chest, the owner and founder of Smoove Movers LLC, located here in Portland, Oregon. Moving began as a part-time gig in college while I was pursuing a degree in business administration at PCC and PSU. Although I pursued a degree to work for a corporation, I have had an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age—mowing lawns and washing cars for $10–$50 a job at 12 years old, along with various sales and customer service jobs throughout high school.

During my professional journey, I gained hands-on experience in digital marketing, operations, and sales—skills that translated perfectly to the moving industry. Years later, I joined a brand-new, single-owner moving company with the aspiration of helping build a successful small business from the ground up. Those days taught me a lot as we learned the industry on the fly, and I eventually worked my way up to Operations Manager within three years. Then, in the midst of the 2021 pandemic, my wife Jasmyn and I had a spark of inspiration to start our own moving and junk removal company—so we did!”

Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed first-hand the unprofessionalism and negative stigmas that exist in the moving industry and felt compelled to do something about it.

My wife, Jasmyn, had brought over five years of sales, bookkeeping, and operations experience to complement my own five-plus years in sales and management, along with seven-plus years in the moving industry. In February 2021, we decided to take a leap of faith to launch our own moving company and haven’t looked back since. We created the business to put our community at ease by providing exceptional customer service, value, and transparency. We prioritize the most efficient, safe, and professional moving practices to be the most trusted moving company in the Northwest.

Our mission is to create a positive, innovative, upbeat, and safe culture for our team and customers to call home.”
